Amanda Blake

Amanda Blake was an American actress best known for the role of the saloon's proprietress with red hair "Miss Kitty Russell" on the western TV series Gunsmoke. Along with her third husband Frank Gilbert, she ran one of the first successful programs breeding cheetahs and lions in captivity. The actress is also an animal lover. All people at least once had heard of the organisation called PAWS. Volunteers from this organisation help animals from all over the world. They usually find shelters for animals, or support wildlife. Amanda Blake was a person who contributed to the founding of the organization. In "Gunsmoke", 1967, she met Pat Derby (a cofounder of PAWS). Pat was a trainer for animals and Amanda was Miss Kitty. In 1984, PAWS was established by an actress who contributed huge sums of money to the charity and left a substantial amount of material support when she died. She donated her Los Angeles home, worth $400,000 to Derby's animal refuge.
