Vergara was a Colombian model who later moved to the United States to become a
TV host at Univision. She began film acting in 2000. Her Emmy-nominated
role of Gloria DelgadoPritchett from the hit sitcom Modern Family made
her a household celebrity. Hot Pursuit and Happy Feet Two are other
projects she has worked on.
Early life and career

Vergara is a Colombian girl who was born in Barranquilla to a large, Colombian
family on July 10, 1972. After studying dentistry and learning English at
a bilingual elementary schools, Vergara was able to learn
English. Vergara, who was captured on a sandy beach by a photographer and
found her, got her start in the screen with a Pepsi commercial. Vergara then
worked as a model for Mexican telenovelas, and later became a star.
After
moving from Spain to the United States in mid-1990s Vergara would become a
Univision television celebrity hosting the travel show Fuera de Serie followed
by the variety program A Que No Te Atreves. A brief and memorable
appearance at the 1995 American Comedy Awards also caught the attention
English-speaking viewers.
Vergara's debut in 2002’s Big Trouble was her breakthrough.
She also starred alongside Rene Russo. Next came 2003's chasing
Papi. Vergara is one of Thomas Fuentes’ girlfriends. By the end the
decade, she was a star in two Tyler Perry movies -- Meet the Browns (2008)and
Madea Goes to Jail(2009). Vergara also made her Broadway debut playing Mama
Morton in Chicago.
'Modern Family’
Vergara, who was playing the role of Gloria DelgadoPritchett
on Modern Family's sitcom Modern Family, also started in 2009 the
role. __S.20__ Vergara earned four Emmy and Golden Globe nominations
consecutively in the supporting act category. She also received a People's Choice
Award in 2017 as favorite comedic actor, just before Modern Family was
signed off in May 2020. Vergara also starred in The Smurfs (2011) and was
the voice of Carmen in Happy Feet Two (a sequel to 2006's animated
film). To finish the year, Vergara joined the ensemble cast in New
Years Eve. A number of follow-up projects were undertaken, including
the outrageous action flick Machete Kills (2013) and the art-house projects
Fading Gigolo and Chef (2014), both directed and co-starred by Jon Favreau.
Vergara joined forces with Reese Witherspoon to create the
2015 buddy comedy Hot Pursuit. Vergara also appeared as Vergara in The Female
Brain. Vergara also contributed her voice and voice to The Emoji Movie, which
was released in 2017. Then she switched gears and starred in the 2018
thriller Bent and the 2017 baseball drama Bottom of the 9th.
Fashion & Business
Vergara started the seeds of financial success long before
becoming the highest-paid actress in television. In 1994 she co-founded Latin
World Entertainment.
In 2011, the actress started her own Kmart line of clothing
and three years later, launched a fragrance and jewelry range. Walmart was
her partner to launch a denim line in 2019.
Personal Life
Vergara was found to have thyroid cancer by an endocrinologist
in 2000. Since then she's had surgery, radiation therapy, and now takes
medication daily in order to control her metabolism. Vergara started a
foundation to support families in Colombia dealing with cancer.
Vergara married Joe Gonzalez her childhood sweetheart and
had a son Manolo in 1992. In 1993, Vergara and Joe Gonzalez
split. Vergara married Nick Loeb, an American and co-owner in a film
production house, in July 2012. But, in May 2014, Vergara and Loeb called
it quits.
Vergara got into a legal battle in 2015 with Loeb. Loeb
sued Vergara in 2015 over her control of the frozen embryos that she and Loeb
had created when they were married. He claimed that Vergara was going to
destroy them. However, she denied this accusation. In a statement she made
to People magazine by her attorney, Vergara said that Vergara
was happy to freeze embryos indefinitely.
Vergara began dating Joe Manganiello, True Blood and Magic
Mike hunks, shortly after the breakup. Vergara was engaged to Manganiello
on December 14, 2014. During a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance, she also
announced that she had been granted American citizenship.
