Sharon Stone worked as a model before moving into film with roles in feature films like Irreconcilable Differences and Total Recall. Her thrilling role in the film Basic Instinct generated a lot buzz. She also appeared in Gloria, Sliver and If These Walls Could Talk 2. She was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for Casino. Stone took the decision to take on acting during the 1980s. She was a part of many film and television roles throughout the decade. In the 1984 comedy Irreconcilable Differences, she played the role of Blake Chandler. She was also a funny role in the comedy Police Academy 4 : Citizens on Patrol (1987). After winning she starred in a range of dramatic roles, including Last Dance (1996) and The Quick and the Dead (1995). The decade ended with a few uneven films, such as Gloria in 1998 and Sphere in 1999. In 1999, she was praised for her performance as a comedian in The Muse in 1999. In 2001, Stone encountered health problems due to a severe headache, which resulted in an internal hemorrhage in her brain. Stone was married to producer Michael Greenburg in 1984. Three years later, they split. In 1998, she was married once more with a different man, this time San Francisco Chronicle Executive Editor Phil Bronstein. The couple adopted their son, Roan Joseph, before their divorce in 2004. Since then, Stone adopted two more sons: Laird Vonne (2005) and Quinn Kelly (2006).
