Sienna Miller Biography

Sienna Rose Diana Miller was a New York City native, but she was raised in London, United Kingdom. American-born Edwin "Ed" Miller is her father. He is an investment banker as well as a dealer of Modern Chinese paintings. Josephine "Jo", her mother, was a South African model and personal assistant to David Bowie. She went on to manage New York's Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and later became a yoga instructor. Savannah Miller is Sienna's older sister. Sienna also has a distinguished theatre career. Credits include the role of Celia opposite Helen McCrory in "As You Like It" at the Young Vic, as well as the Broadway production of Patrick Marber’s "After Miss Julie", where she was paired with Jonny Lee Miller. Sienna was most recently seen on stage in Terence Rattigan’s critically acclaimed "Flare Path", which was directed by Sir Trevor Nunn and held at London's Theatre Royal Haymarket. For her role as Keira Knightley in The Edge of Love (2008) she was nominated for a British Independent Film Award nomination. She was also nominated in the same year for the BAFTA Orange Rising Star award. In 2006, she was nominated in the Independent Spirit Award for her role in Interview (2007). When Sienna was just 18 months old, her family moved to Chelsea in London. Sienna spent weekends riding horses at her godmother’s farm in Wiltshire. Sienna was 6 years old when her parents divorced. Savannah and Sienna moved to Parsons Green together with their mother, who was being treated for breast carcinoma. Sienna's father was remarried three more times and she moved to the Virgin Islands. She moved to Heathfield, a boarding school in Ascot at age 8 and enjoyed acting and playing Lacrosse.
