Pom Klementieff
Pom Klementieff is an actress from
France, French actress was born on May 3, 1986. She received her training at
the Cours Florent drama school in Paris and has been featured in films like
Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and Hacker's Game (2015). She is the Mantis
character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
(2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom
Klementieff was born in Quebec City to a Korean father and a French-Russian
wife. He was employed as consul with the French government. Eugene Klementieff,
a painter was her great-grandfather. Her parents picked the name
"Pom" because it's similar in pronunciation to Korean words for
"spring" and "tiger". Klementieff stayed in Canada for a
short time before her family went on a long trip because of her father's job.
After moving to France she lived in Japan. Her father, who passed away from
cancer at age 5 was also her mother. Additionally, she suffered from
schizophrenia and couldn't care for her kids. Klementieff was raised with her
aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, who she herself described as "like
[her] first father," died on Klementieff’s 18th birthday. Her brother, who
was younger, died seven years after his death. The second time, it happened on
her birthday, which was on the 25th. Klementieff briefly attended law school
after her uncle's death in order to please her aunt, however she didn't find
the profession choice attractive. She was also salesperson and waitress in
France. At the Cours Florent drama academy in Paris she started acting when she
was 19. After finishing her studies, she was awarded an audition in theater
that offered her two years of tuition with some of the best teachers at the
school. Klementieff was the first actor to play professionally in the
independent French film Apres lui (2007). She played the stepdaughter for the
main character, Catherine Deneuve. The shooting of the scenes took three days.
One scene saw Klementieff pushing someone down a set stairs, but she fell. Gael
Morel saved that scene for the film that was to be released. Loup (2009) was a
French film that focuses on the Siberian reindeer herders, was her debut big
role. She was filming in the middle of a camp located at a distance from the
nearest village. The camp was where temperatures plunged to zero.
